TOWER CRANE RIGGER

The main role of a tower crane rigger is to safely hook uploads for all trades on-site and be able to communicate clearly to the operator where, when, and why a load is being moved. This position also requires the performance and recording of daily rigging inspections. Must always be able to multitask and stay calm and professional under pressure. This person must be punctual and steady for all hours of the crane’s operation. This person would report to the site foremen and Superintendent directly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Safely attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving

  • Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces using chain falls with various types of tables

  • Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use

  • Work with crane operator daily via radio and hand signals

  • Ability to work extended hours including weekends

  • Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions, climb scaffolding, ladders and carry at least 50 pounds of weight

  • Must have personal protection equipment (PPE) and always demonstrate safety awareness

  • Must have fall protection gear and the appropriate ticket (will train)

  • Knowledge and the ability to comply with ALL WorkSafe (WCB) procedures/safety practices including on-site work practices and guidelines

  • Must have means of reliable transportation to job sites (Sites are usually located near Skytrain stations and transit routes)

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge and experience with flying various types of tables considered an asset

  • Commercial &/or Infrastructure construction experience/formwork considered an asset

  • Capacity to remain calm and respond effectively using good judgement in a variety of situations

  • Peri/Doka Fork experience is an asset

  • Pinch method with various types of tables
